7:00 am at Dubai International Airport, having a quick breakfast in the Emirates Business Lounge before catching my short flight to Bahrain. There is this incessant tune in the background which was irritating the hell out of me and I wondered why do they bother with such crappy background music that seems to be on a 3-second loop. Taking a leadership role, I decided to act on behalf of all the other fellow travellers who happen to be sharing their breakfast with me, I got up and walked straight to the reception.
– Excuse me, can someone do something about the background music, it seems to be stuck in a loop
– What background music, sir?
– Can you not hear it?
– I can hear a tune but, it is not our music
– Well, where is it coming from?
– Maybe your own phone, sir?
I dug into my jacket pocket and it was my iPhone alarm telling me to get out of bed. I don’t know about you but, I have a talent for slithering away from embarrassing situations as though I have a reptile ancestry. So, I slithered away without so much as a hiss!
