I took the lift on the 38th floor of a Dubai hotel. Three floors down, the lift stopped and in came a couple with three mid-teen children (two girls and a boy). With an American accent, the mother said: good morning and I smiled and said good morning back. Five floors further down, the lift stopped again and two men stepped in. Six further floors down, a man and a woman joined us. The lift now had ten of us and there was hardly any room for another child. We descended the next twenty some floors, thankfully without further addition to our numbers.
So, we began to leave in the reverse order we entered the lift with me trailing behind the American family. One of the daughters mumbled something about the crowded lift and the mother responded: This is why it is important to have a shower in the morning, honey.
