I wrote this story in the Autumn of 2006 as a Christmas gift to my wife Claire and three daughters Leila, Rosy and Faye.  It was to remind the girls of their innocent and carefree childhood days when we invented two characters called Mr and Mrs Dampatch.  The stories we made up were short and silly and helped me avoid re-reading the standard children story books over and over, to the point of sending me to sleep, if not them.  Mr and Mrs Dampatch stories were interactive and everyone could add to the plot until we ended up at a dead end or we fell asleep.

The story in the following 27 chapters was an attempt to invent a proper history and background for the two heroes and build a reasonably long adventure story line, while remaining faithful to the “silly” principle of the original creation.  It follows the couple through their stumbling awakening to the harsh realisation that the world out there is not as clean and innocent as they are.  But with love and determination, they finally win against their evil enemies.

I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
