A beautiful but sad song by the late Jim Diamond goes like this:

And I should have known better

To lie to one as beautiful as you

Yeah, I should have known better

To take a chance on ever losing you

It’s a song about regretting the unwise actions we may have taken in life with disastrous consequences such as the loss of a loved one. The title of the song “I Should Have Known Better” inspired me to write the forthcoming series of short blogs, where I recall a number of those ‘unwise actions’ that made me think afterwards: I should have known better; what was I thinking?

You will be relieved to know that none of my stories is as tragic as Jim Diamond’s song so, I will not be subjecting you to a miserable read.  The only damage inflicted in these events was mainly a temporary wound to my dignity or reputation where the scars were easily covered with light make-up.

The first blog will appear tomorrow sometime and I hope you will enjoy the read; you might even recall some of your own “should have known better” moments.
