As a result of my serious illness last year, where my prognosis was in serious doubt, I consider myself to be very lucky indeed to experience another Christmas with my family and friends.  There was a time when I took the arrival of another new year, and many more after that, for granted.  Not anymore.

No longer will I think that way; no longer will I take life for granted; no longer will I expect good health as though it was my birth right; no longer will I assume that the people I love know how much I care about them without confirming my feelings with words and actions. I am already trying to correct these lazy and arrogant traits.

From now on, I shall take the opportunity of such a festive season, and other occasions, to draw my family and friends closer to me, tell them I love them and renew our mutual awareness and appreciation of one another.

My wish to you is to enjoy this and every festive season for many years to come in good health and peace of mind with the people you love and care about.  However, try to experience each special occasion such as Christmas / New Year as though it might be your last.

I will be doing the same.
